West Texas inspired wedding at The Plant at Kyle – Kaci & Andrew
If you’ve ever been to West Texas, particularly Terlingua, then you’ll understand why K & A wanted their wedding to feel more like a laid-back get together with lots of friends and a lot of whiskey and dancing till the night.
Kaci & Andrew didn’t want a big fussy day – and definitely didn’t want a lot of formal posed photos. A couple of traditional photos would do but then it was time to get back to capturing the candids which is something that makes me so happy as a photographer.
In fact, I build my timelines with First Looks to include a small portrait session after, and then a couple more after the ceremony. My couples know they can get wonderful photos of the two of them AND enjoy the reception with a drink in hand and have unobtrusive candids from the rest of the party.
I want everyone to ENJOY their day and not stress about a zillion formals.
Planning their Central Texas wedding from across the country in North Carolina required a lot of faith in vendors, especially when the last cold front of the year blows through the night before, dropping the temperature 20+ degrees and scrambling for a tent and heaters at the last minute.
Thankful to the team of vendors who pulled together a wonderful day.
The Plant at Kyle is an old concrete plant turned Air b n B in Kyle. You can stay the night there and have a little staycation with your close family post-wedding.
Wedding day shoes for K & A. Please notice the cute Texas tie clip for Andrew.Kaci was indecisive about her dresses, a girl after my own heart. One was more “traditional” which we decided was for the wedding ceremony and the other, from Anthropologie, would be the reception dress.

I love this photo of Andrew helping carry Kaci’s dress train through this cactus-minefield
Kaci and Andrew wanted their guests to experience the Hill Country and had their wedding ceremony in the field with folk musicians playing.

Instead of table numbers, Kaci & Andrew chose local Austin favorites like Lone Star and breakfast tacos to designate tables.
