Normally wedding days are stressful, chaotic with lots of moving parts and a million questions rapid fired at coordinators or the bride while she’s sitting in hair and makeup. Wedding parties and families worry aloud about old traditions and offering well-intentioned but stressful opinions like “at my wedding we did…”
Cooper and Lena had the most peaceful small wedding, fitting for a venue named The Sanctuary Event Space. A place that feels more like your backyard garden – an oasis in the middle of central Austin rather than a sprawling wedding venue. They eschewed most traditions, opting for a quiet, intentional day with no wedding party, a friend and female officiant, and my favorite detail: walking by themselves down the aisle.
These two were positively radiant on a Saturday afternoon, cheerfully (and sometimes tearfully) greeting their guests and family together the whole day. It warms my heart and makes me feel good seeing couples tackle the wedding day side by side, as partners, two parts of a whole, rather than two individual people at an event.
So thank you Cooper, Lena, your friends, your family for making this one of my top 2018 weddings.
