Sarah comes from “old Austin” Travis Heights and Ben is a southern SEC Tennessee and Georgia fan. Together they live in a quirky old neighborhood in east Dallas, just a few neighborhoods away from where I grew up! I love some old Austin Honky Tonk so when Sarah told me they were leaving in Willie Nelson’s old tour bus I got a bit too excited and wondered what stories it might hold (if it could talk.)
The month of May was the wettest on record here in Austin. Any other year here and Sarah & Ben’s intimate 95-person spring wedding at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center would have been sunshine and birds chirping. However, on the day of, nature had other plans for flooding rains, lighting and eve tornado warnings, prompting us to evacuate and move to the classrooms downstairs! Regardless, these two rocked the rain plan and even let me take some epic rainy photographs. The Wildflower Center is such a quintessential Austin, Texas venue to get married and I hope I can photograph another intimate wedding just like this one on a sunny day next time.
