If there ever was a perfect way to first confuse and surprise your girlfriend before proposing this is it. First, tell her nothing special is happening on her birthday. Just a normal day going to work and catching up on life’s to-do list. Second, have her sisters tell her they’re all going down to Austin for a girls’ trip but with a quick stop at Inks Lake State Park for a little day hike.

Maddie’s sisters handed a dress to wear and told to hike ahead without them. Dear reader, know that the location is about a mile and a half into the park and is overlooking the beautiful Inks Lake waterfront with rocky granite cliffs and 100′ drops. However, Ryan knew this had to be the spot where he got down on one knee in front of Maddie.
