Last week, I was contacted by a very excited mom who told me her son was planning on doing a surprise proposal to his girlfriend that weekend and wanted to know if I was available to be the official photographer. How could anyone say no to that? Garrett’s surprise proposal went off without a hitch. A weekend at the house overlooking Lake Austin was a perfect quiet getaway and a place where the two could be together.
You see, currently, Claire lives in New Braunfels and Garrett lives and works in Oklahoma so a dinner at their favorite restaurant in Austin was just what they needed. After Claire got dressed, Garrett asked her to come with him and walked with her up the stairs of the boat dock where framed pictures of their adventures together told the story of their relationship. He led her over to the side and got down on one knee and asked the important question.
She couldn’t believe it. Her face was a mixture of surprise and happiness with a few tears welling up. “Of course!” she shouted. He smiled, got up, and hugged her tight before pulling away and telling her to turn to her left and smile. I smiled and waved back and walked over to greet the newly engaged Garrett and Claire. We exchanged hugs and congratulations and I began our little mini engagement session.
I’m so thankful for my talents that allow me to be apart of someone’s life milestones. Whether it be a wedding (the middle) or the proposal (the beginning) I’m filled with joy every time. Congratulations again G & C. I wish you years of happiness and excitement!
