Luke had no idea where he was going to propose to Anna – all he knew was in Austin and on this exact weekend. He told me Anna liked theater, color and she probably wanted to be dressed up – which ruled out places like Mt. Bonnell and the 360 Overlook. My mind was spinning with ideas and I started spitballing on the phone with Luke – trying to come up with any idea that would be nice and not taken over by SXSW activations.
Finally, I suggested the Capitol and Luke jumped on the idea. She liked history too! He would tell Anna they were going on a tour but “oh darn – we just missed it. Well we’ll walk around the grounds instead,” Then my decoy and I would stop them for pictures of “cute couples for a tourism blog about Austin.”
Congratulations Luke & Anna! I loved swapping maps and diagrams and sending multiple texts back and forth to make sure we were all ready to go. Photographing your downtown Austin proposal was so much fun!
If you’re thinking about proposing to your girlfriend, but aren’t sure exactly where it should be yet, go ahead and reach out! I’ve been doing this for 5 years and have been to pretty much every spot in town. I love to get creative and can help you choose a location that will really surprise and wow her!
