Today marks the one year anniversary of Vanessa & Steven’s Sunday lunch elopement at Chapel Dulcinea out in Driftwood. It was a warm and sunny day and perfect for the intimate ceremony with just their closest friends and family where there was hardly a dry eye the whole day. The lunch reception at Trattoria Lisina (the Italian restaurant next to Duchman Wineries) was something out of a Martha Stewart wedding with all the pretty light and long tables of family and friends laughing and sharing plates of pasta and cured meats. Relive the energy and happiness of the day in this post. Congratulations again, Mr. & Mrs. Barendt and enjoy your first anniversary and congratulations on baby #3!  You two are incredible parents – so glad I could be there for the beginning of it all. I wrote more about how much I adore Chapel Dulcinea below all the pictures so if you want to just hear my opinion, scroll past Vanessa & Steven and jump straight to that!

Chapel Dulcinea is owned by the Wizard Academy (no, sadly no old men who look like Dumbledore wander around here) and they offer this small chapel completely free of charge. The only catch is, you have a limited amount of time to do the deed and popular weekend dates are reserved well in advance. It does have some beautiful hill country views since it’s near Driftwood, about a 30 minute drive from downtown Austin. The place is quiet and serene and truly only  comfortably seats about 12 people on the stone benches provided but if you’re all friendly, you can put about 50 standing. But for your photographer’s sake try not to squeeze any more in there because it makes it hard to move around!

I love it because it’s perfect for brunch weddings or elopements. They offer related reception venues, especially the Wildflower Barn (only 7 minutes away!) are beautiful and accommodating, however, you can always get creative and have your reception at the Duchman Family Winery or The Salt Lick  which are both down the road neighbors to the Chapel. If any brides are having an elopement (4 hours or less) at Chapel Dulcinea, shoot me an email for information on special elopement prices and packages.
