Yes, yes I know. It’s February and I’m doing a best-of weddings post? January was a super hectic month for me and March will be too so I’m taking this little lull before things pick back up again to showcase some of my favorite photos that were processed a while ago but didn’t make it in the earlier “best-of.”

1.) Shooting at the Hummingbird House for Elizabeth Hafner of Vignette Photography here in Austin.

What a sweet bride and a loving groom at this circus/carnival/comic book-themed wedding on a dreary day. You wouldn’t know it though, because of all the fun everyone had! The Hummingbird House is a beautiful garden-like venue in South Austin and the even though the weather was a bit dreary from raining the night before, it never dampened the lush gardens there.

2.) Seconding for Lindsey//The Life You Love at the 4 Seasons hotel in downtown Austin. Whenever I get a call from the girls at The Life You Love I usually do a little happy dance around my apartment because I just LOVE working for them! Their processing skills are to die for, not to mention their spectacular photography and just generally amazing people.

What an emotional wedding this was. There was no bridesmaids or groomsman and the officiant was someone’s grandfather. I don’t think I can tell you all just how much devotion the groom had towards his bride and soon-to-be wife. They chose to do a first look, something I absolutely love because it really allows for some genuine moments to be captured. The reception was the most rock and roll one I have ever been to! They hired an 80′s hair band who played a lot of the “classics.” You can practically hear it in some of the reception photos!

3.) Andy Sams at Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs, Tx

This was a beautifully done wedding out at Camp Lucy, a venue I had never been to before, but absolutely loved after my first visit. The bride and groom couldn’t have picked a more spectacular place with a quaint stone chapel and sweeping Hill Country views. After a sweet and heart-wrenchingly emotional ceremony, the couple and their guests partied the night away with one of my favorite wedding bands (and apparently the favorite of a couple wedding party members as well as you will see…), The Matchmakers (a groovy Motown cover band).

Just For Fun Friday: My friend Katie

On today’s Just For Fun Fridays: my good friend Katie and I hang out at a local green space near my house. Katie is a seriously talented dancer and a very accomplished videographer. This girl is a complete goofball and sometimes she has too much energy for me to handle! We went over to the greenbelt a couple blocks from my house and I just let the open space inspire the both of us. Look at that form!

Sarah | Texas State University Graduation portraits 2011

To describe Sarah I would have to use that age-old cliché often used to describe girls (and lord knows I hate to use a cliché) but she truly is sugar and spice and everything nice. After having to re-schedule our session due to a bout of yucky Texas winter weather, we were fortunate enough to have the sun peek out just in time for her graduation portraits around San Marcos. This girl was FABULOUS and a real trooper for putting up with my crazy locations in the near freezing temperatures. You can’t tell though, because Sarah was practically a professional at not showing how utterly frozen she was!

Miss Sarah is graduating in 4 days from Texas State University (my alma mater! Eat ‘Em Up Cats!) with a bright future ahead of her thanks to her Mass Communications degree and being involved in the Delta Zeta sorority on campus. We started at the beautiful DZ house and worked our way around San Marcos utilizing some of my most favorite locations to date.

Elizabeth | Texas State Graduation portraits 2011

I absolutely love shooting portraits of college seniors because the excitement of moving onto the real world and leaving what was your insular college bubble for 4 or 5 years is practically tangible. I remember the stress of finishing all my photo projects and studying for my Media Law final exam, all while trying to plan for the 15 minutes where I walked across the stage at Strahan Coliseum at Texas State, shook the Chancellor’s hand and tried my best not to trip in heels.

Elizabeth is graduating in December with her degree in Criminal Law. We spent a lovely San Marcos afternoon walking and talking about senior year and the plans she has for the future. Good luck, Elizabeth! I wish you well.

Major props post of 2011

It’s been a long and hot summer and now that fall is somewhat here in Austin, it’s time to show off some more wedding work that I’ve been sitting on. I have been incredibly lucky enough to second shoot for some fantastic people this past year. So I decided to share with you all just a few of my favorites rather than making full blog posts out of them. Major props go to Elissa (elissarphotography.com) for being my number 1 go-to gal when it comes to second shooting. Thank you to everyone who has trusted me thus far. I look forward to 2012! The photographers in this post who were gracious enough to allow me to second shoot are:

1.) Sam at Sunny 16 Photography (http://www.sunny16photos.com/)

I was completely honored to shoot with Sam at this wedding. It was awesome to see how someone who produces such amazing photos actually works at a wedding. Sam is true talent and skill and the couple from this Inn at Wild Rose Hall wedding were so lucky to have him.

2.) Brittany Dawson Photography

My first time visiting LaGrange was seconding for Ms. Dawson (now Mrs. Kerr!). Super sweet down-home wedding with lots of fun people.

3.) My number one gal.. Elissa. This was from a crazy fun Hallowedding up in Plano on Halloween weekend! (Thus the Hallowedding.. get it??) This was the first time I had the opportunity to test out my posing of large bridal party groups since most of the weddings I second shoot are smaller with maybe 3 groomsmen and 4 bridesmaids. And of course, a Halloween wedding wouldn’t be complete without the B&G and the whole bridal party changing into zombie attire for a fully choreographed Thriller dance!

And this is why I love being a second shooter. I went outside and found Jesus, a slice of pizza, and a Dallas Cowboy all hanging out together.
